Thomas Sumter Academy (TSA)

Thomas Sumter Academy Dance Department 

 

Miss Chylene Burdick is the dance department director at Thomas Sumter Academy. Our staff collaborates to bring the best of Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop to the curriculum each week.

 

Rebecca Koenig, Jodi Benjamin, Kathryn Joslin, Jami Michelle Newman, and Miss Chylene share their talents weekly in this long-standing K5-12 program for boys and girls. Students must be enrolled in Thomas Sumter Academy and select the dance program as part of their weekly curriculum. 

 

All dance students perform in a year-end dance recital, showcasing their awesome skills acquired throughout the year in a choreographed routine. In addition, Middle and High School students perform in a Christmas Program and the SCISA dance competition. 

 

Participating Students have an Annual Admin Fee to TSA:

• $30 for Elementary

• $55 for Middle and High School

• $25 SCISA comp fee (Middle & High School only)

 

Recital Costume(s) Fee To DDA:

• $48 Boys

• $90 Elementary Girls

• $180 Middle & High School

 

Required Weekly Dress Code:

• Elementary students wear school attire and *dance shoes purchased specifically for their class.

• Middle & High School dress out daily and are required to have tan Jazz shoes, a black leotard, and black shorts*.

 

*All items are available through our DREAM dance boutique at our studio on 1152 Broad Street, Sumter. 

 

Picture week for all Recital participants is March 10-13th during school in their recital costume.

Spring Dance Recital is Thursday, May 8th at 6:30 pm at Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple Street, Manning SC

 

Additional opportunities to perform may arise throughout the school year.
